Dolls and Body image

The question on the senior writing contemporary issues page was, to what extent has your body image been influenced by dolls and action figures? To me, it doesn't effect me at all and I don't understand what the big deal is about the body image of dolls like Barbie. In the mirror on America book on page 88 Barbie's Newest Values by Gloria Borger stated that "Barbie is a fantasy doll for girls, not a real role model for women". I agree with that. barbie is just a toy and not something that women in society should look up too. and yes barbie has a unrealistic body image so why would you try and look like her. Also if you are so unsecure with yourself that you need to look like a toy then you have the problem.

    I think no matter in fact i am sure this is for some of the people that are insecure people who don`t think of themselves as that good looking or don`t have the self a steam that they have to take toys and other things in human culture and have to say that is too much or that will damage young child using other things and not just coming out with what is truly the problem so nothing wrong with Barbie it is just how some people with insecurities feel and what they think has nothing to do with what me and you think

    Why do women compare themselves to 11 inch plastic dolls? Women are mad because somebody made a doll that apparently had a small waist and a big bust. So women are trying to get plastic surgery and reducing there waist size to look like a plastic doll. I think that it is pretty stupid that women think they have to look like a doll. Before Barbie came out, most dolls did not have the curves that were on a Barbie Doll. But what does it really matter how big the doll is. In the end, it's just a doll. I could honestly design a doll to be as big or as small as I wanted. Some women are just insecure about not having a small waist like Barbie. I just don't understand that women think they have to look like an 11 inch plastic Barbie Doll.
